2026 WCQ playoffs: Super Eagles boycott training over unpaid bonuses

The Super Eagles on Tuesday refused to train in protest over unpaid bonuses spanning two years.

According to SCORENigeria, the players informed head coach Eric Chelle that they would not train unless the outstanding bonuses were settled.

The unpaid bonuses reportedly cover both the qualifying campaigns for the 2025 AFCON and the 2026 World Cup.

The Super Eagles had held their first training session in Rabat, Morocco, on Monday ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoffs. They are scheduled to have their second session later tonight.

A total of 23 players are currently in camp at the team’s Rive Hotel base in Rabat.
