The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), has slammed the Federal Government led by Muhammadu Buhari, over “continued disarray of the Nigerian nation in terms of Insecurity, corruption, and the near total collapse of the economy, thereby leaving Nigerians helplessly begging for survival.”

Rising from its 69th General Church Council Meeting, ECWA in a communiqué, condemned in strong terms “the recent attack on Abuja-Kaduna bound train, the killing and abduction of uncertain number of passengers by terrorists, as well as the invasion of the Kaduna International Airport, and the constant killings and abductions in Kaduna, Kebbi, Zamfara, Plateau, Niger, and other states of the federation.”

The Church also took a swipe at what the communiqué noted as “unabated heinous activities of radical Islamiic terrorist groups”, saying it condemns “the continuous activities of radical Islamic terrorist groups including Fulani Jihadist Militia, Boko Haram, ISWAP, and bandits terrorising the North, Middle Belt, and other parts of the country.”

“The Council expressed great worry on the conspicuous silence of the Federal Government of Nigeria under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, and its reluctance to descend heavily on the perpetrators of these heinous crimes”, the communiqué stated further.

The communiqué also expressed sadness over a trend of land grabbing, and accordingly draws “the attention of the Government to the systematic genocide being executed against Christians and other autonomous communities in Nigeria”, saying “this is orchestrated through continuous raid on Christian farming communities with lethal weapons, often in the dead of night.”

Accordingly, ECWA has called on the government of President Muhammadu Buhari to “wake up to its responsibilities to the citizens, and ensure the return of internally displaced persons, IDPs, to their ancestral lands”, and to assist “such returning farming populace with the necessary farming inputs, so that they could reactivate their farms and means of livelihood.”

ECWA in the communiqué, also demanded for the release of abductees including the remaining Chibok School girls, and expressed regrets about the subsisting ASUU strike, urging the federal government and the striking lecturers to reach a common ground in the interest of the country.
