APC, NEC delegates power to NWC for 90 days

The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Executive Committee (NEC), has delegated its power to the National Working Committee (NWC), to act on its behalf for the next 90 days.

Announcing the decision at the emergency NEC meeting, the National Secretary of the party, Iyiola Omisore, disclosed that the development followed a motion moved by the President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan, which was seconded by the governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai.

Omisore referenced relevant articles in the party’s constitution to back the resolution.

With this, the NWC will now take decisions that might require the intervention of the NEC meeting.

The NEC meeting, which held at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, had in attendance, President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice-president Yemi Osinbajo, governors of the party, other party bigwigs as well as members of the NWC.

The President presided over the 11th meeting of the NEC.

Meanwhile, President Buhari has again lamented the rate of killings, especially in the North-west and the North-central.

Speaking at the NEC meeting of the party, President Buhari assured that the administration will be “very tough” henceforth.

Earlier, Senate President Lawan, pledged total commitment and support to the party saying insecurity in Nigeria grew over the years and did not emerge from the present administration.

He, however, assured that given the enormous investment to tackle insecurity, the situation will abate before the end of Buhari’s tenure in 2023.
