Gunmen attack Kuje prison again in Abuja

Unknown gunmen have attacked the Kuje Maximum Security Custodial Centre in FCT Abuja.

According to multiple reports, there were ongoing shootings and sounds of explosion around the facility, located at an area called Shetuko in Kuje Area Council of Abuja.

As at the time of this report, the actual cause of the attack was not ascertained but sources close to the scene said it might be a terrorist attack.

However, a report by Daily Sun points to bombings in the prison.

The first explosion, a high capacity bomb, went off around 10.25pm. It was followed by second and third blast and sporadic gunshots that left the residents scampering into safety.

Few hours earlier, security report had alerted the prison officials of possible attacks of the medium prison.
