Commonwealth Games: Amusan, Brume, Usoro, relay team hit final

Nigeria’s Oluwatobiloba Amusan ran the best heat time on Friday, 5 August, 2022 to qualify for the final of the Women 100m Hurdle event.

The world champion and world record holder qualified for the final at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Amusan ran 12.40secs to place first in Heat 3 of the event and it was the fastest time of the heat on Friday, 5 August, 2022, for the event.

Also on Friday, the duo of female long jumpers: World Silver medalist, Ese Brume and Ruth Usoro both qualified for the female long jump event.

Brume jumped 6.81m to come second in Group B and secured automatic ticket while Usoro came third in Group A with 6.59m jump to qualify for the final of the event.

The Nigerian Men 4×400 relay team also qualified for the final by picking one of the fastest losers ticket but actually had fourth fastest time of the eight teams that qualified for the final.
