Abia community bans sale of cooking gas in market

To prevent death and unimaginable calamity, the Ebem Ohafia community in Ohafia LGA of Abia State has banned the sale of Cooking Gas (LPG) in Ebem market.

A communique issued by the Ebem Ujurueze  Palace, Ekeleugo Ebem after the emergency meeting of the Council of Chiefs and Elders, said the ban was outright.

The communique was signed by the paramount ruler of Ebem Ohafia ancient kingdom, Ezie Ukoha Kalu Ukoha, Emeka Mba, President General of EODU, Idika Kalu Uche, Ifeanyi Okali, among others.

The community leaders, who condemned every form of cultism, gangsterism, and drug abuse, said that such acts were banned in Ebem with immediate effect.

They urged parents and guardians to caution their wards, even as they directed landlords whose properties are used for such alleged practices to  evict the  offenders or face disciplinary measures.

“Anyone found in unlawful possession of arms will be handed over to law enforcement agencies”, the Chiefs and Elders ruled.

The Ebem Ohafia leaders also gave a two-week quit  notice to all scrap dealers or face stringent disciplinary action.

The leaders attributed the ban to the rising reports of vandalism and breaking into property in the community, with security reports linking it to the activities of scrap dealers and their suppliers.
