Aiyedatiwa reaffirms commitment to Corps members’ welfare

Ondo Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has restated his administration’s commitment to the welfare and security of corps members serving in the state.

The governor gave the assurance on Tuesday during the closing ceremony and passing-out parade of the 2025 Batch ‘C’ orientation course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikare-Akoko.

Aiyedatiwa who was represented by the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Kuburat Omowumi Bakare, noted that his recent approval for the construction of new hostel accommodation for corps members underscores the government’s determination to enhance their living and working conditions.

He added that construction work on the facility would commence soon as part of ongoing efforts to improve the wellbeing of young Nigerians deployed to the state.

The governor said his administration maintains strong collaboration with security agencies and other stakeholders to safeguard corps members throughout their service year.

He appealed to corps employers to receive the newly posted corps members warmly and provide a supportive environment that encourages creativity, discipline and leadership development.

“As you proceed into the next phase of your national service, remember that this period carries significant responsibility. The nation expects you to contribute to unity, development and national progress” she said

Aiyedatiwa also urged local government authorities, traditional rulers and community leaders to assist corps members in executing impactful Community Development Service (CDS) projects in their host communities.

He advised the corps members to uphold discipline and hard work, participate fully in post-camp training programmes and avoid social vices, warning against drug abuse, cybercrime and involvement in local politics.

A highlight of the event was the presentation of commendation letters to two camp officials—Inspector Yusuf Johnson of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and Miss Aminu Taiwo of the NYSC—for their outstanding performance during the orientation exercise.
