Court grants Mompha bail in the sum of N100m

Mompha has been granted bail to the sum of N100 million.

According to reports, a Federal High Court in Lagos granted N100 million bail to social media celebrity, Ismaila Mustapha, popularly known as Mompha.

The bail was granted by Justice Mohammed Liman on Friday, November 29, 2019 after Mompha’s arraignment by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The judge also ruled that Mompha is to produce one surety who must be a landed property owner.

Mompha was also ordered by the court to deposit his international passport with the Deputy Chief Registrar of the court and report at the EFCC office fortnightly.

Justice Liman adjourned proceedings until January 8, 2020.

Mompha was arrested on October 19 at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja by the men of the EFCC. He was arraigned on Monday, October 21 on 14 counts bordering on fraud, money laundering and running a foreign exchange business without the authorisation of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
