FULL LIST: Tinubu nominates Ajimobi’s wife, Fani-Kayode, Omokri, Mahmood Yakubu, others as ambassadors

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sent the names of 32 ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for confirmation, days after he sent the first batch of three names.

The President, in two separate letters to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, asked the Senate to consider and confirm 15 nominees expeditiously as career ambassadors and 17 nominees as non-career ambassadors.

This was disclosed in a statement on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

According to the statement, there are four women on the career ambassadors’ list and six women on the non-career ambassadors’ list.

Non-career ambassador-designates:

1. Barrister Ogbonnaya Kalu —  Abia
2. Reno Omokri (a former presidential aide) — Delta
3. Mahmud Yakubu (former INEC chairman) — Bauchi
4. Erelu Angela Adebayo (former Ekiti First Lady) — Ekiti
5. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (former Enugu governor) — Enugu
6. Tasiu Musa Maigari (former Katsina Assembly speaker) — Katsina.
7. Yakubu N. Gambo (a former Plateau Commissioner and former UBEC deputy executive secretary) — Plateau.
8. Professor Nora Ladi Daduut (a former senator) — Plateau.
9. Otunba Femi Pedro (former deputy governor) — Lagos.
10. Chief Femi Fani-Kayode (a former aviation minister) — Osun State.
11. Barrister Nkechi Linda Ufochukwu — Anambra State.
12. Fatima Florence Ajimobi (former Oyo First Lady) — Oyo State.
13. Lola Akande (former Commissioner) — Lagos
14. Grace Bent (former Senator) — Adamawa.
15. Victor Okezie Ikpeazu (former governor) — Abia State.
16. Senator Jimoh Ibrahim — Ondo State.
17. Ambassador Paul Oga Adikwu ( former ambassador of Nigeria to the Holy See) — Benue State.

8. Abimbola Samuel Reuben — Ondo
9. Yvonne Ehinosen Odumah — Edo
10. Hamza Mohammed Salau — Niger
11. Ambassador Shehu Barde — Katsina
12. Ambassador Ahmed Mohammed Monguno — Borno
13. Ambassador Muhammad Saidu Dahiru — Kaduna

Continuing, the statement explained that the “new nominees are expected to be posted to countries with which Nigeria maintains excellent and strategic bilateral relations, such as China, India, South Korea, Canada, Mexico, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, South Africa, Kenya, and to Permanent Missions such as the United Nations, UNESCO, and the African Union. All the nominees will know their diplomatic assignments after their confirmation by the Senate.”

Recall that last week, President Tinubu sent three ambassadorial nominees for screening and confirmation.

The nominees, according to a letter read on the floor of the Senate by Akpabio, were Ambassador Ayodele Oke (Oyo), Ambassador Amin Mohammed Dalhatu (Jigawa), and Retired Colonel Lateef Kayode Are (Ogun).
