Gunmen attacked school in Zamfara, abduct scores of students

Unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits have attacked a Secondary School in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State and abducted unspecified number of students.

DAILY POST gathered that the incident occurred on Wednesday morning when the abductors stormed the school premises with sophisticated weapons.

Details of the incident remain sketchy as at press time.

When contacted by DAILY POST, the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Mohammed Shehu promised to inquire and revert.

However, according to reports, the gunmen invaded the school at about 11:30 am when the students were writing examinations.

Like other states in the country, particularly the north, Zamfara has witnessed a surge in insecurity recently as bandits continue to attack schools and kidnap students for ransom.
