How Davido lost 4 close buddies in 3 years
The last three years have seen Afropop star Davido, losing four of his close buddies.
The last three years might have seen Davido winning international music awards, getting some of the biggest songs on the continent and even welcoming two kids, he has also lost some of the closes buddies he has ever had.
In 2017 alone, Davido lost three of his buddies in the spate of one week – Tagba died on October 3 while DJ Olu and Chime both died on October 7.
And three years after, Davido was thrown into a state of mourning once again.
He announced the passing away of another of his friends, who is not only close to him but also his brother and cousins.

Tagbo
October 3, 2017
Age: 35
Tagbo Umeike is another friend of Davido, who died in the last three years. Tagbo’s death had become controversial after Nollywood actress, Caroline Danjuma, alleged the singer and his crew abandoned and ran off after dropping off the body of Tagbo’s remains at a Hospital. Tagbo had died after he celebrated his birthday with Davido and his crew. An autopsy report claimed he died of excessive alcohol consumption.
DJ Olu

Age: 23 years
DJ Olu was born Olugbemiga Abiodun to the current governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun on August 14, 1994. DJ Olu started as an underground DJ in 2010 while studying for his “A” levels in England. After a few years of disc jockeying, and headlining house parties, he was signed on the Adeleke owned record label, HKN as Davido’s official DJ in 2011. He worked closely with Davido till his death in 2017. DJ Olu was very close to Davido and it took several efforts before he was replaced by DJ ECool after his death.
Chime

Age: 23
Chime Amaechi is a young dropout of the University of Lagos, who died months after his 23rd birthday. Unknown to many, Chime was a childhood friend of DJ Olu and the two had been close since their days at Oritamefa Baptist School. He became close to Davido through his buddy, DJ Olu. Chime had been the business-oriented type and was rarely seen with Davido in public except in a close-knit caucus. He died the same day as DJ Olu.
King Jhafi

In 2020, Davido lost another close buddy to the fangs of death. The singer announced the death of another of his buddies, Ahmed Kuteyi aka King Jhafi. King Jhafi is said to have been with the singer since his days as a young singer under HKN. King Jhafi was close to the Adeleke boys – Adewale, David, Sina, and Bayo. He formed a close relationship with the Adeleke brothers and remained one of their plugs in the United States of America. His death was announced by Davido on April 7, 2020.
