Jacqueline Avant’s killer sentenced to 190 years in jail

Aariel Maynor, the man responsible for the untimely death of Jacqueline Avant, wife of music executive, Clarence Avant, has been sentenced to a minimum of 190 years imprisonment.

The Los Angeles District attorney announced the verdict on Aariel Maynor in a statement on Tuesday.
Jacqueline, 81, was shot and killed during a burglary at her home in Beverly Hills, California, in the early hours of December 1, 2021.
Maynor pleaded guilty to first degree murder, attempted murder, and possession of firearm by a felon in Los Angeles superior court last month.
The 30-year-old also pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree residential burglary with person present.
The district attorney’s office stated that Maynor, who was arrested on December 3, used a long barrel assault pistol.
“He shot a completely vulnerable victim, 81-year-old, no match for him and she was caught by surprise” Kathryn Solorzano said before announcing the judgement.
“And then, he left her there and compounded the issue by firing multiple rounds at the unarmed security guard.”
George Gascon, the Los-Angeles district attorney said “the sentencing marked the end of a tragic case that rocked the community.
“Mr Maynor will be ineligible for early parole, and will spend the rest of his life in prison.
“This also prevents a lengthy and painful process of trial for the Avant family, a process that can be traumatising.”
Jacqueline was known in California as a philanthropist, who was dedicated in helping low-income neighbourhood.
Clarence, her 90-year-old husband, worked with the likes of Babyface, SOS band, Terry Lewis, Louis Armstrong and Jimmy Jam.
