Lagos Assembly workers hail Meranda’s Emergence as speaker, assure support for tenure 

Exatly one week after her official resumption in the office of the speaker of the Lagos Assembly, members of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), Lagos Chapter, led by their Chairman, Comrade Babatunde Ogunlana, welcomed Rt. Hon. Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, to her office.

The event, held at the Assembly Complex in Alausa, Ikeja, on Monday, February 3, 2025, was attended by PASAN executives, Heads of Directorates, and members, all of whom expressed their support for the Speaker’s leadership.

Comrade Ogunlana, in his remarks, reaffirmed PASAN’s commitment to fostering a harmonious working relationship with the Speaker and the entire legislative leadership.

He acknowledged the legislative experience of Rt. Hon. Meranda and assured her of PASAN’s cooperation in achieving institutional progress.

“We believe in your vision and leadership, and we are confident that under your administration, staff welfare and legislative efficiency will be further strengthened,” Ogunlana stated.

In her address to the workers, Rt. Hon. Meranda appreciated their warm reception and assured the association of her dedication to promoting the welfare of Assembly staff. She emphasized the importance of collaboration between lawmakers and administrative staff in ensuring a robust legislative process.

She also expressed her willingness to engage PASAN on matters affecting staff development and working conditions, promising to prioritize policies that enhance productivity and professional growth.

The event marked a new chapter in the relationship between PASAN and the leadership of the House, with members anticipating a tenure of progressive reforms under the new Speaker’s guidance.
