Police confirm Anthony Joshua’s accident, commence investigation

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed that world-renowned boxer Anthony Joshua was involved in a road traffic accident on Monday, along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State.

According to a statement signed by DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, Police Public Relations Officer, for the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, the incident occurred at about 11:00 am in Makun, just before Danco Filling Station, near the Sagamu Interchange on the Ibadan-bound axis.

In a report titled OGUN POLICE COMMAND REPORT: ANTHONY JOSHUA SURVIVES ACCIDENT, TWO PASSENGERS LOSE LIVES., the command stated that the Lexus SUV conveying Joshua was involved in the accident under circumstances that are currently being investigated.

The police disclosed that Joshua, who was seated in the rear of the vehicle, sustained minor injuries and is receiving medical attention.

According to the statement, two other passengers in the vehicle lost their lives at the scene of the accident.

It added that the deceased have been conveyed to Livewell Hospital Morgue in Sagamu.

 

The Ogun State Police Command extended its condolences to the families of the deceased and assured members of the public that a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident has commenced.

It added that further updates on the incident would be communicated as the investigation progresses.
