Tinubu endorses Sanwo-Olu, Hamzat for second term

Former Lagos State governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has endorsed the current governor of the state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, for a second term.

The development became necessary to douse the tension created following leaked reports of plan by the power bloc and Governance Advisory Council (GAC) of the party to drop Hamzat as deputy and replace him with the present Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Folashade Jaji.

“Asiwaju ⁦@officialABAT officially endorsed Governor ⁦@jidesanwoolu and deputy @drobafemihamzat for second term”, Gboyega Akosila, who is Sanwo-Olu’s chief press secretary tweeted on Friday, along with a video of Tinubu raising the hands of the governor and his deputy.

The endorsement came days after Sanwo-Olu picked the nomination and expression of interest forms.

Tinubu, expressed his approval for the second term of Sanwo-Olu and  Hamzat, during a stakeholders’ meeting with APC chieftains and all 2023 polls aspirants, held at Adeyemi Beto Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja,Lagos.

The stakeholders’ meeting was convened by Chairman, APC Lagos chapter, Cornelius Ojelabi, on the need to harmonise interests towards the party’s forthcoming primaries as well as ensuring as seamless exercise in a rancour free manner.

The Governance Advisory Council (GAC), the Lagos APC apex leadership body, had also unanimously endorsed Sanwo-Olu for a second term.
