“We are behind you” – Group assures Sanwo-Olu
A Lagos based indigenous group, Egbe Omoluabi Eko (Egbe), has assured the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu that the entire members of the organisation are solidly behind him, saying, his performance has been adjudged satisfactory and heart-warming.
Convener of the group, Ogbeni Ekundayo Ibrahim, on Monday urged the governor to just keep his eyes on the ball as usual and ignore blackmailers and detractors that are on prowl in recent time, suspecting that, “their new found love for blackmail has 2023 undertone and they will fail woefully.”
Their plan to detract the governor, according to Egbe, has failed on arrival because the highly enlightened people of Lagos are appreciative of Sanwo-Olu’s performance, assuring him that, “at the fullness of time, the people would reciprocate his good gesture by doing the needful, especially on the 2023 issue.”
The Egbe therefore urged the leadership of the ruling party in the state-the All Progressives Congress (APC), to handle the party primaries well to avoid avoidable mistakes that can cost the state the known Angel, expressing optimism that, “the party’s leadership, we believe, would not dare to change a winning team.”
The group said it joined its voice to that of those warning detractors and blackmailers to keep away from the state, asserting that, “we can boast of overwhelming members running to a million that can ward off any anti-democratic and unpatriotic elements and their sponsors in the state.”
While insisting that Egbe is a non-partisan organization seeking good governance and deserved welfare of the citizenry, Ogbeni Ekundayo however informed that, “we cannot because of our apolitical and non-partisanship posture stand aloof to watch the state’s opportunity for good governance being threatened by never do well bunch of rogues without doing anything to stop them.”
Though, the Egbe leader has stated that the organization is not violent and will never be violent, he however warned that his group would not hesitate to use all the legitimate democratic weapons in its arsenal to ward off any unwarranted aggression from any quarters, saying, “we are opposed to any conduct that could jeopardise the peaceful co-existence that could guarantee more democracy dividends fro Sanwo-Olu’s administration.”
Ekundayo therefore thanked the people of the state for their support and cooperation with the government of Sanwo-Olu, expressing confidence that the governor and his team of competent hands would not disappoint them.
