We didn’t arrest Ebelechukwu Obiano – EFCC
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has debunked reports that the agency had arrested former First Lady of Anambra State, Ebelechukwu Obiano.
Reports had gone viral on Thursday evening that former governor Obiano’s Wife, Ebelechukwu, was arrested by the EFCC for fraud related offences.
She was reportedly being grilled by the Commission at its headquarters in Abuja.
But the Spokesperson of the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, told newsmen that the former Anambra First Lady was not in the custody of the anti-graft agency.
In a terse response to the enquiry, Uwujaren did not provide further details, but said the report of her arrest is ‘not true’.
“We do not have her in our custody”, Uwujaren said on Thursday night.
The former first lady is seeking to contest in the 2023 elections to represent Anambra North District at the Senate under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
She had on March 17, 2022, during the swearing-in of Professor Chukwuma Soludo as Anambra State Governor, caused a stir after she became involved in a brawl with a former Nigerian ambassador to Spain and wife of Biafra warlord, Mrs Bianca Ojukwu.
