The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has cleared multiple environmental blackspots across Lagos including Ikeja, Surulere, and Lagos Island corridors, as it continues the sustained sanitation drive across the state.
The operations, which involved multiple trucks and sanitation crews, targeted medians, bus stops, bridges, and roadside locations where refuse had accumulated over time, restoring these public spaces to dignity.
In the Ikeja axis, MO37 led a comprehensive cleanup of multiple locations, including Kodesoh underbridge, Police fence, Awolowo median, Medical junction, Ipodo Central mosque, Airport bridge walkway, and Oba Akinjobi junction, while Lasuth Gate was also cleared.
MO56 cleared Oba Akran opposite Dangote, Sinotruk, Cocoa Industrial Avenue on Akilo Road, and Peak Milk fence, ensuring that these commercial and institutional corridors were fully restored. Allen Bus Stop was cleared by 5CBM 006, while Holly was also restored to cleanliness.
In the Surulere and Mushin axis, Agege Motor Road median was cleared, while Anthony Underbridge was fully restored. Leventis Bus Stop second spot was cleared, while Outer Marina underbridge was evacuated. Sura Market, Forest Street Junction, and Apongbon beside the bridge were all cleared, bringing relief to residents and commuters along these busy corridors.
The operations reflect LAWMA’s unwavering commitment to environmental cleanliness and public health, as the Authority continues to deploy resources across the State to ensure that no community is left behind in the pursuit of a cleaner Lagos.
The Authority reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing environmental laws and ensuring that all residents and businesses comply with sanitation regulations.
Residents are encouraged to support these efforts by patronising approved PSP operators and avoiding indiscriminate waste disposal, as environmental cleanliness remains a shared responsibility that requires the cooperation of all stakeholders.
