UK’s Prince Charles has tested positive for the raging coronavirus. He becomes the first member of Britain’s royal family to announce a positive test for the COVID-19 virus.

The heir to the British throne was announced positive after a test on Wednesday, March 25 – 13 days after his last public engagement when he was the guest of honor at The City of London Corporation and the Australian High Commission fundraising dinner at Mansion House, the home and office of the Lord Mayor of London.

There are no details to how the 71-year-old prince caught the virus.

A Clarence House spokesperson said in a statement, “He has been displaying mild symptoms but otherwise remains in good health and has been working from home throughout the last few days as usual. The Duchess of Cornwall has also been tested but does not have the virus.

“In accordance with Government and medical advice, the Prince and the Duchess are now self-isolating at home in Scotland. The tests were carried out by the NHS in Aberdeenshire where they met the criteria required for testing,” the spokesperson said.

On March 9, Charles joined members of his family — including Queen Elizabeth and William and Harry and their wives Kate and Meghan, respectively — at a Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey.
