Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has dared coronavirus ravaging his state to ease lockdown despite a rising number of cases.

Ganduje announced the easing of lockdown in the state in a brief statement on Saturday, May 2, by his spokesman, Salihu Yakasai.

The governor directed that Kano residents can shop for food items for Ramadan on Monday and Thursday.

Ganduje further said that during the period, the movement of persons in the state would be limited to 10 a.m. to 4 p.m with compulsory use of face mask in public.

On Friday, May 1, Kano state recorded 92 new coronavirus cases with an overall of 311, placing it second on the log of states with confirmed cases of the disease.

The governor had earlier urged the president to ease the lockdown in the state to lessen its economic effects on the state ‘especially in the period of Ramadan’.
