Newly wedded couple, Mercy Aigbe and her husband, Kazim ‘Adekaz’ Adeoti, have reacted to the controversy trailing their romance.

The two have refuted claims that Kazim was friends with Mercy’s ex-husband, Lanre Gentry and that Mercy was never friends with Kazim’s estranged wife, Funsho Adeoti.

The assertion that the two men were friends was made after Mercy made her relationship with the movie marketer, Adekaz, public on 23 January.

It can be recalled that her ex-husband Lanre Gentry who had since remarried, took to Instagram to share a throwback photo of him and Mercy as a married couple posing with Kazim Adeoti and his estranged wife, Funsho Adeoti.

“At last I thank God the truth is out this is just one out of many to God be the glory. I don’t need anyone’s comment please”, Lanre captioned the photo.

His remark further led to the assertion that Mercy was already involved in an illicit affair with her ex-husband’s supposed friend who was also married at the time.

Mercy and Kazim have cleared the air claiming that they were never friends as they only met at Kazim’s 40th birthday party.

Mercy affirmed that she was invited to the party with other Nollywood actors. She, however, thought to go with her husband, now estranged.

Speaking about the picture Lanre Gentry posted, Mercy said they only posed for a picture with the celebrant and his wife just like other people did.

According to them, it was only after Mercy and Lanre separated that they became an item. Kazim and Funsho had also been separated years before he started dating Mercy.
