Burna Boy, KWAM 1, Teni get national honours

Leading Nigerian music stars led by Grammy award-winning singer Burna Boy has been conferred with national honours by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Burna Boy was joined on the list by Fuji maestro, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal aka KWAM 1 and Teniola ‘Teni’ Apata, who were also been conferred with the rank of Member of the Order of the Nigeria (MON).

The investiture ceremony held on Tuesday, October 11, at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Abuja.

The music stars were selected among the 437 Nigerians who received the National Honours Award.

The national honours lists contain individuals from different works of life including politicians, public officers, security personnel, businessmen, monarchs, and religious leaders among others.

A letter from the Office of the Honourable Minister, Federal Minister of Special Duties, and Inter-Governmental Affairs confirmed the music stars as awardees.

While Burna Boy was represented by his father for the receipt of the national honour, Teni and the Fuji star were present to receive their honours in person.
