COVID-19: Jaywon arrested and arraigned in Lagos

Singer Jaywon has been arrested and arraigned for violating the coronavirus curfew in Lagos State.

The 33-year-old recording artist was arrested by the police around the Dolphin Estate at about 11 pm on Monday, May 4.

The ‘This Year’ singer was then taken to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti, Yaba, where he was charged before a mobile court after his statement had been taken.

He was arraigned before a Magistrate court on Tuesday where he pled guilty to the charges against him.

The Magistrate sentenced him to 30 minutes of community service and also ordered him to pay a fine of N10,000.

He, however, expressed his displeasure over a video that showed people going out without face masks and hand gloves in a post he shared on Instagram on Monday.

It’s a suicide mission whenever you allow people to go out at this time of COVID-19 without face masks and hand gloves. I hope y’all can see for yourselves. May God have mercy on Nigerians…,” he wrote.

Jaywon is yet to publicly address the matter.
