Dangote may buy Arsenal in 2021
Aliko Dangote has renewed his desire to buy the English Premier League side, Arsenal.
In a recent chat, Dangote said he might be buying the football club in 2021 after completing the current project on his hands in 2020.
Africa’s richest man told David Rubenstein during a TV Show on Bloomberg, that he has $20billion worth of projects to be completed before taking on the bid to buy the Arsenal Football Club.
“It is a team that, yes, I would like to buy someday, but what I keep saying is we have $20bn worth of projects and that’s what I want to concentrate on.
“I’m trying to finish building the company and then after we finish, maybe sometime in 2021 we can.
“I’m not buying Arsenal right now; I’m buying Arsenal when I finish all these projects because I’m trying to take the company to the next level,” he said.
In 2015, Dangote, who is worth $10 billion, first declared his intention to buy Arsenal, which is presently owned by an American billionaire, Stan Kroenke.
Currently, the billionaire is presently constructing a refinery in Lekki, Lagos State, Nigeria.
