Folorunsho Alakija’s husband gets 1-yr suspension for fighting in Ikoyi Club

Modupe Alakija, the husband of billionaire businesswoman, Folorunsho Alakija, has been served a one-year punishment for fighting in Ikoyi Club.

The 72-year-old son of the popular Nigerian lawyer, Sir Adeyemo Alakija, was punished by the club for allegedly fighting and inflicting injury on a fellow member in the club premises.

In a letter signed by the club’s honorary secretary, Bamidele Ibironke, Alakija was notified of his suspension in a strongly worded letter dated December 1, 2021.

According to the letter, the lawyer was ‘suspended for physically assaulting and abusing a fellow member in conduct injurious to the interest of the club and violating one of the club’s rule book.’

The billionaire’s husband has been suspended from attending activities or enjoying all the access as a member till November 10, 2022.

Alakija is yet to respond to the suspension, while the name of the attacked club member is yet to be revealed.
