Gunmen kill lecturer, student in Lagos

A lecturer and a student of Michael Otedola College of Primary Health Education (MOCPED) in the Epe local government area of Lagos state, have been killed by suspected cultists.

The student, identified as Razak Bakare, and the lecturer, identified as Ahmed Saheed, were shot dead at Poka Town in Epe.

A security guard in the institution, who confirmed the incident, said, “The student was killed on campus on Wednesday and the lecturer was shot dead on Friday. We have informed the police.”

However, Commissioner of Police Hakeem Odumosu said the command was only aware of the student killed, explaining that it was a clash between rival cult groups.

“It was a case of rival cult groups. They chased the student and he ran into a church where they killed him. I do not have any information on the lecturer,” said Odumosu.

ALL NEWS gathered that the attacks, which occurred within the space of 48 hours, have caused panic and apprehension in the area.

A community ruler, Babatunde Ogunlana said the incident was disheartening, as the killing had shattered the peace of Noforija town.

Also, the Alara of Ilara Kingdom, Oba Olufolarin Ogunsanwo, called on the police and others to bring the culprits to book.

He called on the state government to mend the broken fence of the institution and install CCTV cameras in the school.

Ogunlana also urged the Lagos Police Command to send more police to the area to halt further killings.
