Harry Potter actor, Simon Fisher-Becker, dies at 63

British actor Simon Fisher-Becker, known for his roles in Doctor Who and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, has died at the age of 63.

His husband, Tony, announced the news on Sunday through the actor’s official Facebook page.

“Hello everyone. This is Tony, Simon’s husband,” he wrote. “I have some very sad news. At 2:50 this afternoon Simon passed away.”

“I’ll be keeping this account open for a while,” he added. “I’m not sure at this point if I’ll be posting again. Thank you,” the post reads.

Kim Barry of Jaffrey Management, Fisher-Becker’s agent, also confirmed his passing and paid tribute to the actor.

“Today, I lost not only a client, Simon Fisher-Becker, but a close personal friend of 15 years standing,” Barry told Fox News Digital. “I shall never forget the phone call I made to him when he was offered the part of ‘Dorium’ in Dr Who. He had been a fan of the show since he was a child.” Barry described Fisher-Becker as a talented and generous individual.

“Simon was also a writer, a raconteur and a great public speaker,” she said. “He helped me out enormously and was always kind, gracious and interested in everyone. My condolences go to his husband Tony, his brother, nieces and nephews and his legion of fans.”

Fisher-Becker was widely recognised for his portrayal of the Fat Friar, the ghost of Hufflepuff House, in the 2001 Harry Potter film. He also played Dorium Maldovar in ‘Doctor Who’ during seasons five and six, later reprising the role in Doctor Who: The Eleventh Doctor Chronicles and Jenny – The Doctor’s Daughter as well as the fan production Tale of a Timelord.

Over the course of his career, he amassed more than 50 acting credits, including roles in Les Misérables, Waterside, and Puppy Love.
