Lagos welcomes unveiling of ₦9 million Macallan collection

The bustling city of Lagos was buzzing on Friday, June 2, 2023, as it played host to the exclusive unveiling of The Macallan M Collection’s 2022 release, an exquisite Scotch whisky valued at a staggering 9 million Naira for all three bottles.

Held at the ornate The Art Hotel, Lagos, Nigeria, the decadent launch was the place to be, as it drew the attention of connoisseurs from across the country, as well as other prominent personalities from different industries, including veteran actor Ramsey Nouah, publisher of Mania Magazine, Kelechi Amadi-Obi and fast-rising actress Temitope Olowoniyo.

The distinguished guests received a first-hand experience of the luxurious collection while immersing themselves in the sensory ambience of mesmerising artworks and prestigious whisky, which sealed the allure of the evening.

The new collection not only astounds with its exceptional whiskies but also enchants with its breathtakingly elegant cases. Each bottle in the collection is housed in a meticulously crafted and thoughtfully designed presentation case, adding an extra layer of credibility to its luxury.

At the highlight of the unveiling, guests were treated to an exclusive tasting experience of The Macallan M collection. They also savoured the taste of The Macallan Double Cask 12 Years Old, The Macallan Rare Cask 2022 and The Macallan Sherry Oak 18 Years Old. These expressions were meticulously paired with high-end cuisine crafted by Chef Wole Oluwole Oshinloye, The Art Hotel’s executive chef, creating a symphony of flavours and nuances that would linger on in the mind of the guests.

The arrival of The Macallan M Collection in Lagos signifies the growing appreciation for premium spirits in the city. Currently, the Nigerian whisky market is projected to reach 83.85 million USD in 2024, an 11.8% rise between 2019 and 2024. Therefore, the event served as a celebration of exceptional craftsmanship and a testament to the country’s increasing openness to luxury and refinement.

In 2022, The Scottish brand partnered with eponymous fashion house, Mai Atafo, for its return to the runway after a three-year hiatus. With investments across fashion, art and music industries in Nigeria, the whisky brand is expected to do more across the country this year.
