Gilbert Bassey, an Alumni of the Multichoice Talent Factory is off to New York for an 8-Week Filmmaking Workshop at the New York Film Academy.

The New York Film Academy (NYFA) will open its doors to several students including Gilbert Bassey, who emerged top of his class of 2019.

Gilbert is a Producer, Director and Editor who was Assistant Director on the MTF student film ‘Dreamchaser,’ which he also composed all the music for.

This once in a lifetime opportunity expands MTF’s mission to empower emerging filmmakers through training, skills and creative development.

This trailer only shows a glimpse of their magnificence. @bolaji_aj absolutely killed it as the Director of Photography, as can be seen by those beautiful images. @minwon_m had to bend and twist to capture clean dialogue. And as if that wasn’t enough, he shunned sleep for some nights to help me produce it, as well as deliver on final mix. @vsonicarts gave us Hollywood-level sound design and score on a budget you won’t believe if I told you. @eddykobby_ handled camera like the true pro that he is. @generale_mclaw slayed it as my AD, co-producer, and the highly rated ‘Sexy-Eyed Sniper’ @amkakabenson and Andy, with their magic, transformed an empty, abandoned office into what you currently see. @nanretkumbet helped us with all the production paperwork, budgeting, and scheduling. Sonia was such a worthy prop master. @purple_delia came to our rescue with believable makeup for Wole. Legit yeah, we were scared that Daniel had been injured for real. All of this would be incomplete without talking about welfare. @hildabaci gave us the best on-set food most of us would ever have. She’s also responsible for getting us the amazing cast. #WolesRevenge will be showing today at the Studio of Mode, Ikoyi, Lagos (3:30pm) Come and watch some Black and White magic.

As MultiChoice’s flagship Corporate Social Value (CSV) initiative, the MTF Academy’s 12-month training programme is distinctly designed to train the next generation of African film and TV creatives in partnership with stakeholders across the continent and globe. One of such international partner is the New York Film Academy.

Segmented into hands-on instruction in class and production, the eight-week filmmaking workshop at NYFA is designed for creatives who wish to study the craft of filmmaking in an intensive environment and challenges students to produce five films over a period of two months. During the last four weeks of the programme, Gilbert will write, direct, and edit films of about ten minutes. The films will be showcased at a screening in New York and students who successfully complete the workshop receive a NYFA certificate and a digital master copy of all their projects

A critical platform for film and TV creatives, the New York Film Academy has lent support to African content creators by hosting workshops across the continent and names Nollywood stars such as Banky Wellington and Kemi Adetibaamong its star-studded list of African alumni. Continuing its efforts of fortifying film development internationally as well as its ongoing partnership with MultiChoice Africa, New York Film Academy will add these rising video entertainment creatives to their alumni network.
