Super Tucano decimates dozens of ISWAP fighters in Brono

A Super Tucano attack aircraft obliterated Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters on Sunday.

Their gun trucks were also destroyed in a military operation at Gajiram in Nganzai Local Government Area of Borno State.

The terrorists attempted to overrun the town and a Forward Operating Base (FOB) when Nigerian Air Force (NAF) pilots bombarded.

Some were burned beyond recognition due to the firepower, while ground troops’ clearance recovered sophisticated weapons.

Army spokesman, Brig. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu listed 10 AK 47 rifles, one anti aircraft gun, one Shilka barrel, one 60mm mortar tube and 61 rounds of PKT rifle ammunition.

“Sadly, two gallant soldiers paid the supreme price during the encounter”, Nwachukwu’s statement read.

Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya has urged forces to maintain the momentum and take out fleeing terrorists.
