AMAA 2019: Sola Sobowale win Best Actress in Africa with King Of Boys

For her role as ‘Alhaja Eniola Salami’ in ‘King Of Boys’, Sola Sobowale has won herself the award for Africa’s Best Actress at the Africa Movie Academy Awards, AMAA.

The actress, who is also referred to as ‘Toyin Tomato’ for her role in Wale Adenuga’s ‘Superstory’, emerged the winner of the category, Best Actress in a leading role, which also had Rita Dominic, Seyi Shay and Jemima Osunde as nominees.

Sobowale also defeated other African actresses and nominees, Sheila Munyiva, Jill Levenberg, Beatrice Taisamo, and Samantha Mugatsia to emerge Africa’s Best Actress.

The veteran thespian led the big award won by Kemi Adetiba’s ‘King Of Boys’ as Adesua Etomi-Wellington added to the number of AMAAs that went to the blockbuster on the night. The actress emerged the Best Actress in a Supporting Role category.

Kemi Adetiba‘s effort was crowned with the film beating ‘Knockout Blessing’, ‘Lara & the beat’, ‘The Delivery Boy’ and ‘Makeroom’ to emerge the NFVCB sponsored Nigerian Film of the year.
