Former Military Governor of Rivers State, Brig. Gen. Anthony Ukpo, is Dead.
Ukpo, according to a family source died at 74 in his Asi Ukpo Calabar Hospital in the early hour of Monday after a brief illness.
Born July 16, 1947, the late General was Minister of Information and Culture, and then Governor of Rivers State, from August 1986 until July 1988 during the military administration of General Ibrahim Babangida.
Ukpo was born in Okpoma, Yala, in Northern Cross River State, on joining the Army, he rose through the rank to become a Brigadier General before his retirement.
A stunt Catholic died in his private hospital in Calabar early Monday, 6 September, 2021 due to an undisclosed ailment.
