Fire breaks out at Obasanjo’s house in Abeokuta

A fire broke out on Wednesday night, February 12, at the residence of ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

According to a report by QEDng, the fire broke out in the ex-president’s house situated at Ita-Eko, in the Ogun State capital.

The report says eyewitnesses said the fire began around 10 pm as a result of a power surge.

The incident was confirmed by the Ogun State Director of Fire Service, Fatai Adefala.

Adefala told journalists that the fire was prevented from causing damage to the main building.

The property housed Obasanjo during his reign as Nigerian president between 1999 and 2006. The Owu high chief later moved to the penthouse within the Presidential Library in Abeokuta.
