Lagos loses another patient to COVID-19

The Lagos State Government has lost another patient to the raging virus, coronavirus.

The death was confirmed by the Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi.

Abayomi, in a tweet, announced the death on Saturday, April 11.

The Lagos commissioner said the patient died in a private hospital in the state.

“We are however saddened by the death of another patient from #COVID19 related complications in a private hospital in Lagos,” he wrote. The commissioner also urged residents to continue obeying social distancing rules.

However, seven additional COVID-19 patients, who have fully recovered after testing negative twice, have been discharged. 

The total number of COVID-19 patients discharged in Lagos State is now 46.

The commissioner did not reveal further information about the victim.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) had on Friday night confirmed 17 new cases of coronavirus in the country, bringing the total number of COVID-19 infections recorded so far to 305.

Of the 17 cases, eight are in Lagos, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 166.
