Gov Bello replaces Simon Achuba with Chief of Staff, Onoja

Yahaya Bello, governor of Kogi state, has replaced his impeached deputy governor, Simon Achuba with his Chief of Staff, Edward Onoja.

According to a report by TheCable, Governor Bello nominated Edward Onoja, his running mate in the November 16 election, as deputy governor of the state.

The governor had reportedly sent Onoja’s name to the state assembly for confirmation a few hours after Simon Achuba was impeached over alleged gross misconduct on Friday, October 18, 2019.

Onoja, it was further reported would be sworn into office on Saturday, October 19, 2019, in Kogi.

The new deputy governor has been reported to be the most influential member of the governor’s cabinet with their relationship predating the emergence of Gov Bello in 2016.
