2023 Elections: Nigeria needs a focused, intelligent leader – Wike

Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, while presenting himself as an aspirant for the post of the president of Nigeria in the 2023 general elections, noted that Nigeria required a leader that is focused and determined to make the country better, and therefore sought to be given the opportunity to rule the country.

Wike said this in Lagos, when he paid a private visit to the party’s former Deputy National Chairman, Chief Olabode George, in company of Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, Senator Gabriel Suswan and the party National Vice Chairman for South West, Soji Adagunodo.

He stated that the PDP must win the 2023 general election, and what the party needs was to take power back to the PDP and it does not need to beg to get the power back.

While addressing the PDP faithfuls after a meeting with the leaders of the PDP, Wike said, “I have spoken to the elders and leaders and I hope they will get across to you what I said to them. Most importantly, we can’t continue to let the country be the way it is sliding, something has to be done.

“Today requires a leader that must be focused with capacity, courageous and I can tell you I have the courage and nobody to be afraid of and I have the capacity to make things better for this country.

“What I’m going to do is, we are going to take back the power, we are not begging, they will be ready and we are ready, the power belongs to us and we must go and take it back”, he said.

Responding, Chief George commended members of the party for turning out in large numbers to receive Wike.

He said the Rivers State governor is good material for the presidential position, because he has on his side the youthful power, and the country needs a bright young person.

Chief George, however, assured Wike that the people of Lagos State are ready to support him.

“We are ready to support you in Lagos. It shall be well with you.

“The public is waiting for us, they are watching who can we trust. If we are divided, we will be overrun, we must be United”, Chief George said.
